constant heartbeat
All my life I have followed my heart, listening as it whispered, showing me the way. My journey has lead me through many eclectic avenues, weaving together a constant thread, as I always said “yes” to the pulse of life. My life has given me many opportunities to dive in head first into the unknown and find my way, accomplishing tasks never encountered before. In each instance, I have been blessed with a gift that came to the surface and brought me tremendous joy. Beginning at an early age, I traveled to many countries seeking experiences off the beaten path, challenging myself to understand textures, people and places. This path led me to obtaining a BA degree in Russian Civilization, and becoming an elementary school teacher. Seeking to know what lay beyond the mind, and wanting to connect at a deeper level to the heart, in 1993 I trained as a Reiki Master. I went on the radio, trained practitioners, wrote manuals, worked with individuals, and created group workshops that incorporated meditative writings and art.
Expression through art has always been a constant unifying presence, woven into all the various avenues of my life. Each page of the website is filled with a different expression, shows different mediums, reflects different moments in time. The constant thread that binds them all together is the blessing of love woven within. In 2009, I began writing poetic letters to further reveal and deepen the experience of love woven into different series of art. “Heartbeat - Letters of Love”, was written to direct the mind’s attention to the heart, and can be sampled on the Heartbeat page. “Awakened Heart”, recently written to focus on the presence and power of love, and can be sampled on the Threads page. The Passages page offers you an option for a personalized expression of the art, as well as further ways of working with the heart through other threads of my work.
Art for me is a lens, a way to glimpse past what is known, into a world filled with infinite possibility, the wonder and the mystery of life. When I sit down to create, I feel myself become a part of a heartbeat, a constant living expression of grace. I love to create the unexpected.
As the creative process emerges, as I collaborate with the different mediums, a third element begins to arise. Every day, as I work with art, I fluidly move with a place of great stillness, silence and grace,
a place filled with vibrant aliveness that brings all of my senses to life. Joy moves through each and every cell of my being, feeding and nurturing my heart as I dance with the presence of love.
Each piece for me is a living entity waiting to come to life. I surrender to the creative process, allowing the paints or the pastels to reveal their location, shape and configuration on the piece. With each and every choice, I feel the excitement of the expression that is coming to life on the page grow stronger. As I dance with the patterns, my heart opens and beats as one with the heart of the expression that is weaving together. I watch the piece fill with colors and shapes, until
I feel a sense of completion. When a piece comes to life, it feels like witnessing a birth, and I am always amazed at what it decides to be.
I gaze in wonder at this expression of joy that tangibly lies before me, and I am graced with a tremendous blessing. Each piece beckons me closer, so that I may experience being encircled and embraced. May you feel the embrace also. Enjoy!
